Our Story

Taste of India has been serving Flanders and the greater Morris County community with authentic Indian cuisine, prepared the way it’s meant to be — fresh, flavorful, and made with care.

Located inside Flanders Village Mall on Route 206, Taste of India was built on a simple idea: Indian food should taste like it does back home. Every dish on our menu is made from scratch using whole spices, hand-selected ingredients, and recipes that reflect the diverse culinary traditions of India — from the rich, creamy curries of the North to the bold, tangy flavors found across the subcontinent. Over the years, we’ve grown from a neighborhood spot into one of the most trusted names for Indian food in Morris County, and that reputation is something we work to earn every single day, one plate at a time.

How We Got Here

Taste of India was started with a straightforward goal: bring real, home-style Indian cooking to a part of New Jersey that didn’t have it. Flanders, part of Mt. Olive Township, sits along the Route 206 corridor, a stretch that sees a steady mix of local families, commuters, and travelers passing through — and we wanted to give all of them a reason to stop and sit down for a meal that felt personal rather than assembly-line. That history is part of what shapes the restaurant today. We’re not a chain, and our menu isn’t standardized across a dozen locations. It’s a family-run Indian restaurant in NJ where the same care that went into our first few years of service still goes into every order that leaves the kitchen now.

What Makes Us Different

Fresh, Never Frozen. Our sauces, marinades, and spice blends are prepared daily. Nothing sits — your chicken tikka masala or lamb vindaloo is made when you order it, not reheated from a batch made days earlier. Whole spices are ground and blended in-house, which is part of why regulars often say our food tastes noticeably different — in a good way — from other Indian restaurants they’ve tried.

A Menu for Everyone. Whether you’re a longtime fan of Indian cuisine or trying it for the first time, our staff will walk you through the menu, spice levels, and vegetarian options. We’re proud of how many guests tell us we have some of the best vegetarian Indian food in Morris County — our paneer dishes, dal preparations, and vegetable curries are built with the same attention to layering spices that go into our meat and seafood dishes, so nothing on the vegetarian side of the menu feels like an afterthought.

Community, Not Just Customers. Many of our regulars have been coming to us for over a decade. We know their orders, their spice preferences, and often their families. We’ve watched kids who used to order the mildest butter chicken on the menu grow up and start ordering vindaloo. That’s the kind of Indian restaurant we set out to be — the one Flanders and Mt. Olive consider their own, not just another takeout option.

Hospitality That Slows Down for You. Fine dining, to us, isn’t about formality — it’s about making sure you’re taken care of. Our staff will explain unfamiliar dishes, adjust spice levels on request, and make recommendations based on what you actually like, not just what’s popular. It’s a big part of why guests traveling through from out of state have told us they went out of their way to eat here.

Catering Across New Jersey

Beyond the restaurant, we cater weddings, corporate events, birthdays, and family gatherings throughout Morris County and the surrounding areas, bringing the same made-to-order cooking to your event that you’d get at our table.
